About Robin
Dr Robin Harrison PhD FRSA BMus(Hons)/GradRNCM FNCM ARCO LTCL DipLCM PGCE(QTS) MISM FGMS NPQLTD began his journey with recorder club, clarinet lessons and a church choir. At the age of 12 he started piano and organ lessons and gained his Grade 8 by the age of 14. At the age of 15 he won a bursary to study at Dartington International Summer School with leading names and at 16 he was performing in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
He attended the Royal Northern College of Music conservatoire where he later become a lecturer. He then lived with a tribe in Gambia and worked with tribes in South Africa and Thailand. He wrote and performed the music for a family wedding connected with Harry Connick Jr. He was one of the speakers at the first ever world aural training symposium and, as a result, was published by Routledge on the Kodaly method for advanced musicians (diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate). This is at the core of his ensemble training. He has taught worldwide and in many different settings and as performed in numerous cathedrals and theatres in the UK. I released 3 albums as a jazz pianist and reached no. 1 in a UK chart and 33 worldwide. He completed a 1 year training programme in conducting and vocal training with the Association of British Choral Conductors and was coached by the Gramophone of the Year choral conductor.
In 2021 Robin founded https://www.the-maestro-online.com, a platform of music masterclasses with leading names, and has since worked with exceptional international musicians including those who’ve made their careers with Madonna, The Jacksons, Whitney Houston and more. He also records across Europe with leading classical musicians. Robin has since been made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Robin founded the Ofqual accredited Pop Piano Exam Board for The Maestro Online, enabling all musicians to gain high level qualifications and UCAS points in all styles of piano playing.
Recently Robin gained is NPQLTD, a national qualification for senior teachers that qualifies Robin to train staff and schools, “Leading Teacher Development”.
Robin continues to write songs, compose and perform alongside his educational projects.
